Singing and vocal technique lessons for adults in Bogotá and online

Singing as an adult is different from singing as a child: your voice is stable, your schedule is full, and you may feel a little self-conscious. Lessons are built around that, and you can take them at home or by video call after work. You'll learn vocal technique from scratch or improve existing habits, with songs you actually want to sing. If you're just thinking about starting, read learning to sing as an adult.

What adult lessons are like

  • Start from scratch or refine what you already know

If you've never taken lessons, your teacher starts with breathing, posture, and warm-ups. If you already sing, they listen to how you use your voice and identify habits like straining for high notes, tensing your jaw, or imitating a voice that isn't yours. That's what shapes your plan, rather than a generic curriculum.

  • With your goal in mind

Singing in a band, a choir or church, or using your voice for a work presentation, calls for different skills. Each goal changes the repertoire, key, microphone use and vocal stamina you need. We define your goal at the start and revisit it every few weeks.

  • Caring for your voice when you talk all day

If you teach, answer calls or lead meetings, your voice already does a lot of work before you sing. You'll learn to warm up, schedule vocal rest and distinguish normal fatigue from a sign to see an ear, nose and throat specialist. The teacher doesn't make medical diagnoses.

  • A space without an audience

Singing in front of someone else is hard, especially as an adult. At home or by video call, in familiar surroundings, it's easier to relax. You won't be asked to sing a whole song in your first lesson.

Your first month, lesson by lesson

  1. Lesson 1: a conversation about your goal, your schedule and your relationship with your voice, plus simple listening and breathing exercises. No pressure to sing a whole song.
  2. Lesson 2: breathing with rib and diaphragm engagement and breath support, with short exercises you can repeat at home. You start discovering your comfortable vocal range.
  3. Lesson 3: a personalized 5- to 10-minute warm-up and the first phrases of a song you chose, in a key that suits your voice.
  4. Lesson 4: take turns with your teacher singing the whole song, record yourself on your phone to listen back, and plan for next month.

What to expect to learn

  • Breathing and breath support to sustain phrases without tensing your neck or jaw.
  • Pitch and ear training: sing in tune and recognize when you drift off pitch.
  • Change old habits, like forcing high notes or singing without warming up.
  • Choose each song's key to suit your voice type.
  • Sing in a group, with a microphone, or in a performance, and care for your voice afterward.

Practice tips when time is short

  • Warm up for 5 minutes before singing and record yourself on your phone once a week. Listening without judging yourself helps you progress faster than endless repetition.

  • Practice for 15 to 20 minutes most days instead of one long session. Your voice responds better to regular, moderate practice.

  • Tie practice to an existing habit, like your commute home or the time before dinner, and drink water throughout the day, not just when you sing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take singing lessons from another city or country?

Yes. Online lessons are live by video call, in Spanish, and work from any city or country. Use headphones and a space where you can sing comfortably. Because of the slight connection delay, you and the teacher don't sing at the same time: you take turns or use backing tracks.

Is it too late to start singing at 40, 50 or 60?

No. The adult voice is stable, and pitch, breathing, and projection can be trained at any age. What often holds adults back is the fear of hearing themselves, and taking it step by step helps. Read more in is it too late to learn music at 30, 40, or 50.

I talk all day at work. Will singing tire my voice out even more?

With the right approach, it doesn't have to. Your teacher shows you how to warm up, avoid straining, and space out your breaks, and recommends habits like those in how to care for your voice. If you have persistent hoarseness or pain when speaking, see an ear, nose, and throat specialist before continuing.

Can I prepare to sing in a band, a choir, or a performance?

Yes. Bring your actual repertoire to class to work on the key, microphone technique, entrances, and breathing between phrases. If you want to sing in a choir, lessons build the listening and reading skills to follow your part more confidently. Message us on WhatsApp with your goal, and we'll send you the options.
